Phase I will be contracted in February and include repacing all pavement between 16th & Sheridan and 19th Street just past Y-Tex on Big Horn Avenue. Because of the heavy use, the pavement in this area will be replaced with concrete. The road here will remain five lanes and will include shoulders large enough to accommodate parallel parking. This phase is expected to last the entire 2006 spring and summer construction season. Special care will be taken to minimize disruptions at Eastgate Elementary School and businesses in the affected areas.
Phase II of the project will be completed during the spring and summer of 2007 and include widening and repaving the road to five lanes from 19th Street to West Cooper Lane on Big Horn Avenue. No additional space will be provided in this section for parking.
WY DOT will provide a community update about this project on January 5, 2006 at the Holiday Inn.
