Fifth Annual Canine Disc Championship Results
Cody, WY - June 29, 2003 - Eighteen owner/dog teams competed in Cody's Fifth Annual Canine Disc Championships held on June 29 at Glendale Park. Participants came from as far away as Story, Billings, Powell and Wapiti. Over 100 spectators enjoyed the competition.
The winner was a lab mix named Grizz, owned by Mike Clark. Griz was severly injured last year and it was heartwarming to see him recover and win the contest by just half a point.
The Johnson's have been organizing the contest for the past five years. Their dog Millie finished in fifth place. Millie is a seven-year-old border collie that had been an abandoned stray when Johnson took her in. Many of the other dogs in the contest have been adopted from the Park County Humane Society, proving that you don't have to go farther than the local animal shelter to find an athletic best friend.
The contest was sponsored by Cody Trolley Tours, Shoshone Recreation District and Skyhoundz.com.
