1999 Cody, Wyoming
Frisbee Dog Contest

Timekeeper Kathy Hovland watches "Tuff" score by grabbing big sky and successfully snatching another Frisbee at Cody's 1999 Frisbee Dog contest.

Contests are free of charge for both participants and observers and are a thrilling way to spend a Saturday morning.

The October 2, 1999 contest, the first in Cody, attracted 14 owner/dog teams despite the cold and clammy weather. In spite of temperatures in the 30's and heavy fog, participants achieved some of the highest scores we'd seen all summer.

This was the first contest Margie & I organized and was made possible by Shoshone First Bank's financial sponsorship and Shoshone Recreation District's facilities and equipment. Award sponsors included McDonalds and Wal-Mart. Special thanks to helpers Joe & Leslie Rose, Bill & Kathy Hovland and Rob Schoeber.

As far as Millie's results, she finished in 4th place with a score of 41. She scored an impressive 26 points in the first round but then in the second round, Mike's frozen fingers resulted in several lame passes and a disappointing score of 15.

The winning team was Jack Way and his Lab/Aussie mix, Maggie, who scored an impressive 63 points. Jim Pedersen and his Border collie, Lucky, finished second with 53 points and Erin Harder and her Aussie mix, Babe, finished third with 43 points.

The Year 2000 Frisbee Dog contest will be held in Cody on July 15, 2000. For more details, select the appropriate link on the prior page.

Frisbee dogs, most of them as friendly as their owners, keep tabs on the competition during Cody's first contest.
